Molecules and Light

All molecules have their own unique spectral "fingerprint" based on how the size and structure of the molecule interact with light. Scientists can observe these fingerprints using devices called spectrometer. Annie Jump Cannon used hydrogen's spectral "fingerprint" to categorize stars.
