Make a Straw Rocket

The job of an aerospace engineer (like Mary G. Ross) is to build or improve vehicles used for flight. Rockets are vehicles that transport people (like astronaut Sally Ride) or supplies into space! A rocket must be sturdy, safe, and able to travel long distances.

Using a straw and paper, you can make a straw rocket using these directions from NASA JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory). Try making small changes to the rocket design and observe how these changes affect the rocket's performance. Now you're an engineer!
