DNA is the genetic blueprint for a cell. It is necessary for life and the instructions in DNA control everything a cell does. Dr. Flossie Wong-Staal, a virologist, was the first person to unravel the genetic blueprint of a deadly virus called HIV, and discovered ways to prevent the virus from spreading.


Use these instructions from the National Human Genome Research Institute to extract a strawberry's DNA in your own kitchen!
